Work With CHAA :: Internship at CHAA Oakland
The CHAA Internship Program is open to graduate program students preparing to become social workers, marriage and family therapists, and psychologists. CHAA-Oakland offers 10-12 month full-time internships and part-time practicum training. The training program emphasizes a community-driven approach to behavioral health, youth development, family support and advocacy services to the historically underserved Asian/Pacific Islander community in the Greater Bay Area. Opportunities exist in the areas of child, adult, and family counseling, case management, and group rehabilitation. Activities take place in the Oakland Unified School sites, family homes, as well as traditional outpatient settings.
Licensed supervisors provide individual and group supervision through weekly individual and group sessions. The training includes (minimally) two hours/week of group supervision, one hour/week of individual supervision and one weekly clinical seminar. Supervision and training is provided in accordance with the requirements of the Board of Behavioral Sciences (for LCSW and MFT licensing) and the Board of Psychology (for psychology licensing).
